President Mnangagwa makes new appointments

Harare (New Ziana) – President Emerson Mnangagwa on Tuesday made three new appointments to the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) to enhance government operations.

In a statement, Chief Secretary in the OPC Dr Misheck Sibanda said President Mnangagwa had re-assigned David Marapira and Reverend Paul Damasane, former Minister and Permanent Secretary in the office of former Vice President Kembo Mohadi respectively, to new roles in the OPC.

“Hon David Marapira who was Minister of State in the office of former Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Cde K. C. D Mohadi has been reassigned as Minister of state in the Office of the President and Cabinet to be in charge of monitoring the implementation of special agricultural and related programs, ” the statement said.

Marapira will monitor the implementation of programs including command agriculture, farm mechanization and irrigation development.

He will also monitor environmental issues, inputs production in the country and climate change.

“Reverend Paul Damasane who was permanent secretary in the office of former Vice President Cde K.C.D Mohadi has been promoted to the position of Deputy Chief Secretary for the social services sector with special responsibility for monitoring programs in the following Ministries and their parastatals. ”

Sibanda said Damasane will monitor programs in Ministries including Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, National Housing and Social Ammenities and Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprise Development.

Sibanda said President Mnangagwa also promoted engineer Amos Marawa, a former Transport and Infrastructure Development permanent secretary.

He has been elevated to the post of National Coordinator (Deputy Chief Secretary grade) responsible for flagship programs and projects in the Office of the President and Cabinet.

Marawa will be expected to provide technical leadership in supporting the formulation and implementation of high impact flagship infrastructural programs and projects in the provinces in close consultation with Ministers of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution.

“(He will also) coordinate the production of detailed reports and recommendations on the progress of high impact infrastructural programs and projects in the provinces with emphasis on their contribution to national economic growth, job creation and enhancing inclusive and sustainable citizen livelihoods as well as contributing towards Provincial GDP growth, ” he said.

Marawa will also provide effective interface between the OPC and offices of Ministers of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in the implementation of high impact flagship infrastructural programs and projects.

“All these appointments are with immediate effect.”
