Harare (New Ziana)- President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday wished a speedy recovery to United States of America President Donald Trump who tested positive for Covid-19 together with his wife Melania.

President Trump announced on Friday that he had tested positive for the virus, whose global confirmed infections stand at 34 million.

“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately,” Trump tweeted just before 1 a.m. “We will get through this TOGETHER!” he said.

In a twitter message, President Mnangagwa said “My best wishes to President Trump @realdonaldtrump and the First Lady @FLOTUS as they make a full recovery from COVID-19”.

President Trump is the latest Head of State to test positive to Covid- 19 after Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also caught it and recovered fully.

At least 205 000 Americans have died from Covid-19, whose global tally recently passed the 1 million mark amid fears the toll may double before a vaccine is found.

President Trump has mostly spurned wearing a face mask and has often been pictured not socially distanced with aides or others during official engagements.

His physician Sen Conley said President Trump was expected to continue carrying out his duties “without disruption” while recovering.
