MARONDERA- One of the country’s giants in the baking industry, Proton Bakers is going all out with its operations to ensure that it remains the leading player in the food industry in the country.

The bakery which is headquartered in Marondera, Mashonaland East province, employs 1 500 workers and its chief operations officer Simba Bodzo recently told journalists who toured its factory that plans are afoot to open another manufacturing factory in Bulawayo.

This, Bodzo said, will help the company to consolidate its market footprint in the region as it also makes inroads to areas where its products were not accessible to consumers.

“As Proton Bakers, we are determined to be the best of the best in this industry. The quality of our products and our consistency underlines that. Our plans now are to expand to other regions in the country and in the near future, we will set up a manufacturing plant in Bulawayo so that we satisfy that market.

“The products that we produce must continue being of quality and in the same vein, making a lasting impression to all consumers. The aim is not becoming the country’s largest bakery but rather, we want to be known as the best bakers of high-quality products,” Bodzo said.

He added that Proton Bakers will be unleashing new products on the market this year despite the challenges they have been facing in the industry.

He said: “This year, we will be introducing to our consumers a new range of products and the equipment that will be used for that purpose is already on site. Power challenges have been affecting all players in all industries and as Proton Bakers, we will tap into solar energy so that in the long run, we ease costs and continue to sustain our operations.”

Proton Bakers Chief sales officer Daniel Chipato said they will do their best to ensure that the bakery’s products reach all corners of the country.

“We are currently making our presence felt in Bulawayo and consumers have fallen in love with our products. We want to reach more milestones and meet the demand for our products by pernetrating all markets throughout Zimbabwe,” he said.

As the bakery continues to expand, it is creating more employment opportunities for the people while empowering the communities.
