Harare, (New Ziana) – In a deep sense of community, Mufakose residents in Harare rose to the occasion and thwarted a robbery in progress on a house in the area, and apprehended two of the suspected robbers on Sunday, January 12.

Police confirmed the arrest of Vincent Tabvirakare (41) and Peter Munyaradzi Runganga (35) who attacked people at a house in the high density suburb and stole US$400, ZAR1 050 and four cellphones.

Local residents responded to the robbery victims’ distress calls and apprehended two of the suspects and handed them over to the police. In a statement, police national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi appealed for information which may lead to the arrest of the other suspects in case, identified as Zindoga and Gumbura who managed to escape and are at large.

Meanwhile, Comm Nyathi said the police are also investigating the murder of Garikayi Junior Kamwendo (27) whose decomposing body was found in a bushy area between Brockdale and Woodbrooke Suburbs in Bindura on Monday.

The body, which was in an advanced state of decomposition, had the head and genitals missing. The body was taken to Bindura Hospital mortuary for post mortem and the police is appealing to anyone with information that might help with investigations to contact any nearest Police Station.
