Rhinos Takes early lead in Pro 50 Championship

Powerful hitting and fine bowling from Rhinos batsmen and bowlers led them to two remarkable
victories against Mega Market Mountaineers in the Pro 50 championship away in Mutare.
Rhinos travelled to the Eastern Highlands for their first two matches of the 2023/24 Pro 50
Championship first class cricket.

Rhinos batters Tarisai Musakanda and Antum Naqvi were in buoyant mood as they destroyed Mega
Market Mountaineers in their own backyard over the weekend.
Musakanda and Naqvi were named players of the match in the first and second matches
respectively.

Musakanda who has been quiet for some time announced his return to top form in first class cricket
with an unbeaten 83 runs from 75 balls, hitting seven fours.
The former Chevrons batter was the player of the match.

Ryan Burl batted well and scored 59 runs of 52 balls with five fours and two sixes.
Captain Prince Masvaure powered 49 runs from 92 deliveries while Antum Naqvi scored 41 runs
from 31 balls with three boundaries and two sixes.
Rhinos won the match by six wickets.

MMM set a target of 297/7 from 50 Overs, Rhinos chased the score to 296/6 from 49.0 Overs.
In the second game on Sunday Rhinos won by eight wickets after chasing down 295. The Midlands
franchise cricket side scored 298 runs losing only two wickets infrom 39 Overs.
Naqvi was the player of the match with an unbeaten 128 runs from 93 balls hitting 12 fours and five
sixes. Musakanda scored 81 runs from 72 balls with seven fours and two sixes.
The two victories put Rhinos at the apex of the Pro 50 Championship log standings.
Eagles Cricket Club also won their first two games against Southern Rocks at Takashinga Cricket Club
ground.
Eagles won the tightly contested first game by six runs and continued with their fine form as they got
the better of Rocks by three wickets in the second game on Sunday.
Rhinos occupy the top position because of a better net run rate.
