SCOTTLAND FC supporters are set to descend on Eswatini in large numbers on Saturday after club owner Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya made 10 buses available to ferry fans for the CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg.
The gesture is expected to boost travelling support for the Mabvuku-based side as they seek to complete the job against Nsingizini Hotspurs and advance to the next round of the continental competition.
Scottland will face Eswatini champions Nsingizini Hotspurs at Somhlolo Stadium on Saturday, carrying a narrow 1-0 advantage from the first leg, which was played in Harare on Sunday.
The Harare side will hope to protect its lead on the road and secure a place in the next stage of the CAF Champions League.
Scottland FC Supporters’ President Edith “Gettie” Majama confirmed the development and expressed appreciation to Sakupwanya for easing the financial burden on supporters.
“Many fans had already set aside money for transport, even though school fees were needed as schools opened this week. However, thanks to the Honourable’s generosity, he has provided free transport for us,” she said.
“We are very grateful to him, and I hope God rewards him and helps our team progress to the next round.”
Majama said the transport arrangement is open to regular Scottland supporters who have been attending the club’s matches.
“Every Scottland supporter who regularly attends the stadium to support the team is eligible to travel with the group,” she said.
The expected travelling contingent will provide the Zimbabwean side with vocal support as it seeks a positive result away from home.
The club owner’s initiative has also allowed supporters to rally behind the team without the added burden of transport costs, and the match is expected to attract significant attention from the club’s growing fan base.
