Seating Facilities, Next Stop For Sakubva Stadium

Share

MUTARE- Football action is set to return to Sakubva Stadium this year as the
local authority puts final touches on the turf revamp citing seating facility
upgrades as the next stop.

The stadium was closed for renovations last year due to the deplorable state of
the drainage and turf facilities which are now at an advanced stage towards
completion.

Plans are already in progress to get tenders for the setting up of bucket seats for
the stadium, a project which is to be tackled in batches due to the high costs
involved.

Mutare City Council acting Town Clerk Blessing Chafesuka said the local
authority was pleased with the progress made so far with plans afoot to roll out
the tendering process for seating facilities soon.

“We are happy we managed to tackle the biggest problem with Sakubva Stadium
which was the drainage system and turf that had been an eyesore. Works are are
within the set timelines and we are now looking forward to initiate the tendering
process for bucket seats,” said Chafesuka.

He however noted that the seating facility project shall be attended to in phases
owing to limited resources.

According to progress made at the stadium, action is set to be brought back at
the ceremonial home of football by the end of the first quarter.

Following closure of Sakubva Stadium for renovations, Manica Diamonds had
play home matches in Triangle whilst Division matches were played at Mutare
Showgrounds.

Accordingly, good news, also beckons for Division One football as the
Chisamba Grounds in Sakubva were renovated concurrently with works taking
place at Sakubva Stadium in order to ease the burden on Sakubva Stadium.
