Security company manager dragged to court

Share

GWERU — A local woman Janet Saramaya approached the civil courts requesting for a protection
order against her husband, whom he described as abusive and always threatening to commit suicide
at their home if she ever approaches the courts for neglecting her.

Although a police officer, manning the court allegedly barred journalists from attending the court
case held on October 30, information from the leaked copy of the judgment confirmed that the
husband, Douglas Sabau, a prominent Gweru branch Evershell Security Company Manager,
appeared before the presiding magistrate Patricia Gwetsayi with Saramaya requesting for a
protection order against him.

In the Sabau-Saramaya case number GWPO 358/23, magistrate Gwetsayi ordered Sabau to stop
abusing his wife.

“In the magistrate court held at Gweru before (me) P. Gwetsayi in the matter between applicant
Saramaya Janet and Sabawu Douglas, protection order is granted as follows: Responded is barred
from physically and verbally abusing the applicant. Responded is barred from harassing the
applicant.

After the court, Saramaya told journalists that even though Sabawu denied the allegations, she was
happy the court granted her the protection order.

Asked what prompted her to seek the court order after over two decades of relationship, the
seemingly traumatised Saramaya said: “I endured an abusive relationship but since my husband fell
in love with her junior workmate, (name supplied) things got worse. Enough is enough I can’t stand
the abuse anymore. I thought he would change but he has proven he is a womaniser,” she said.

“Although I experienced several cases of my husband’s promiscuity, things got worse when he fell in
love with, (workmate). Since their love affair started three years ago, I started being assaulted for
petty issues. Sabawu started abusing me and abandoning his family as a result of his newly found
girlfriend,” she said.
