Seven wanted for murder

SILOBELA — Seven men are on the run here after they alleged murdered a fellow villager over a long-
standing grudge.
Police could not readily establish the issue that led to the death of Mabutho Moyo (18) and have
since launched a manhunt for the seven suspects, who are all implicated in his stabbing to death.
Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanual Mahoko said in the morning of September 10
Anafi Mhlanga (30) of Village Makhumuzela, Chief Malisa and Gabriel Sibanda of Village Mkombo,
Chief Malisa both who have been arrested, teamed up with seven others and went to Moyo’s
residence to settle an undisclosed matter.
“The suspects found Moyo with his father and they asked for permission to take him to the police on
the pretext that they wanted to settle their differences. The unsuspecting father agreed and the
suspects left with Moyo,” Insp Mahoko said.
The nine allegedly took turns to assault Moyo all over the body with fists, open hands and switches
along the way until they reached Gweru River.
One of the suspects allegedly stabbed Moyo with a knife once on the head.
Insp. Mahoko said an eye witness raised alarm and alerted other villagers who later found Moyo
lying dead on the ground with injuries all over the body.
A report was made at ZRP Silobela and police arrested Mhlanga and Sibanda who are assisting with
investigations.
Meanwhile, in another issue, police in Zhombe have launched a manhunt for a man who is alleged
to have stabbed his suitor to death over a young girl after a soccer match.
Police said on September 10 around 6.30pm, Enock Mugagwi and the girl from Village Nhengure,
Chief Malisa in Zhombe were coming from a soccer tournament held at Nhengure Primary School.
It is alleged that they met Themba Nyandeni (25) who became angry after suspecting that Mugagwi
was proposing love to the girl he once also proposed to.
The suspect drew an okapi knife from his trousers and stabbed Mugagwi on the chest and fled.
Mugagwi fell down and died.
Insp. Mahoko appealed to the public who might have information that may lead to the arrest of
Nyandeni to report to the nearest police station.
