Harare, (New Ziana) -Special Olympics Zimbabwe is sending a team of three athletes to represent the country at the prestigious Golf Masters Invitational Tournament in Macau, China, scheduled to take place from June 21 to 28 this year.
The send-off ceremony, held in the capital on Monday, was led by Special Olympics Zimbabwe Board chairperson Absolom Muchandiona, and attended by the parents of the athletes and other board members.
Muchandiona emphasized the significance of the tournament, describing it as an annual international event that gives athletes from across the world an opportunity to compete, learn, and shine on a global stage.
The three athletes include Emmanuel Gutu, who will compete in the 18-hole category, as well as Simbarashe Mushayi and Selassi Chiwisa, who will participate in the 9-hole division.
Special Olympics Zimbabwe is a welfare organization that aims to position people with intellectual disability as laeders in sustaining acceptance and respect within families, schools and communities through inclusive unified sports, fitness and youth activation programs.
