Gokwe (New Ziana) – Gokwe-Nembudziya Member of Parliament Justice Mayor Wadyajena, who is facing US$5 million fraud charges, says the state can go ahead and confiscate his property for further investigations as per a High Court order.

In a video which has gone viral on social media, Wadyajena can heard telling his supporters in Gokwe, the Midlands Province on Wednesday, that he was not worried by the seizure of his trucks, cars and houses.

“Let them take the trucks, let them take the cars, even if they want to take my houses, they can come and take them,” he is heard saying.

Wadyajena was arrested last week together with four Cotton Company of Zimbabwe Limited (Cottco) top executives. The five were arrested on charges of fraud and money laundering involving US$5 million of Cottco money.

He was granted $200 000 bail after spending a night in remand prison.

Wadyajena and the Cottco officials are alleged to have converted money, which was meant for the importation of bale ties to buy 25 haulage trucks through his company, Mayor Logistics. They allegedly diverted a second order for ties to energy companies.

The High Court has issued a 30-day order to take over the 22 trucks.

In addition to the 22 trucks listed in the court order permitting the seizure, the order also allows ZACC to hold two luxury cars, a Lamborghini and BMW X6, which were intercepted at the Beitbridge Border post on suspicion that Wadyajena wanted to take them to South Africa for safekeeping.
