Suspected thief fatally assaulted by mob

Harare(New Ziana) -Police in Harare have confirmed the killing by a mob on Thursday of a 38 year-old man suspected to have stolen two smart phones and a Bluetooth speaker radio at a house in Waterfalls.

Police said the incident, in which Nomore Mutseriwa died after being set upon by mob, took place at a house along Bradfield Road.

In a separate incident, Marlborough police were also investigating the death of 25-year-old Nisadi Maruza who was stabbed to death by two 15-year-old juveniles following an argument over a woman.

Maruza was allegedly stabbed with a steel road on the chest and back after an argument with the juveniles at Nduna Shops, SAS Mine, Mazowe around midnight.

“The victim had allegedly seen the suspects talking to his girlfriend and this did not go well with him,” the police tweeted.

Meanwhile the police have confirmed an accident which occurred on Friday around 6 AM at the 192 km peg along the Harare-Masvingo highway in which 9 people died and 31 others were injured when a Nissan Caravan with 18 occupants collided with a minibus with 22 people on board.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Mvuma District Hospital mortuary while 20 of the injured were admitted at the same health facility.

The other 11 injured passengers were rushed to Gweru General Hospital where they were admitted.
