Harare, (New Ziana) – The Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) has appointed Emmanuel Matsvaire as its substantive Chief Executive Officer, effective Tuesday last week.
Matsvaire had been serving in an acting capacity since September 2022 after replacing Meanwell Gudu, who was arrested and later acquitted of alleged criminal abuse of office involving US$2 million.
In a statement on Monday, the TIMB said Matsvaire brings extensive experience in tobacco farming and industry leadership.
“The Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Emmanuel Matsvaire as the substantive Chief Executive Officer of TIMB, with effect from June 10, 2025.
“Emmanuel is a results-driven executive with over 16 years of leadership experience in the tobacco industry. He brings deep expertise in strategic agricultural management, sector planning, and industry transformation,” it said.
Matsvaire holds qualifications in development economics, agribusiness, research, and statistics, among other fields.
