Shurugwi (New Ziana) -Tongogara Rural District Council has made significant strides in the health delivery services this year, with the major achievement being the completion of ZWL$6.4 million Munikwa clinic in Ward 1.
In an interview, Tongogara RDC Chief Executive Officer, Brian Rufasha said the clinic which they constructed in partnership with 5 Infantry Battalion will go a long way in improving the provision of health services in the district.
“The state-of-the-art clinic which cost us ZWL$6 457 000 will go a long way in improving the health of people in Ward 1 and some people in Chirumhanzu District,” he said.
“The money was used to purchase all the building material, medical equipment, water reticulation, fencing, plumbing and electrification.”
Rufasha said the completion of the clinic has brought huge relief to the villagers who used to travel about 10km to Chitora clinic.
“People were walking nearly 10km to nearest clinic. So what we did was to reduce that gap in terms of the Vision 2030. And apart from the distance, the area is infested with dangerous animals like hyenas and leopards, it was difficult to move around,” he said.
Rufasha said this year Tongogara RDC is targeting at constructing Totonga, Gamwa and Batanai clinics.
