Redcliff, (New Ziana) – A 24-year old Torwood woman has appeared in court in KweKwe facing allegations of strangling her five year old stepson to death in order to inherit his father’s house.

The accused, Alice Chikono, appeared before Kwekwe Regional Magistrate Florence Nago, accused of murder as defined in Section 47 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

She was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to April 16.

Public Prosecutor Kudakwashe Mazorodze told the court that on April 2, Chikono allegedly strangled her stepson, Dean Dube.

“The accused killed Dean Dube so that she would inherit the house belonging to his father Turnwell Dube since Dean was the only boy child of Turnwell Dube,” said Mazorodze.

Chikono was arrested a day after the alleged murder following a report to police.
