Train derails

A fully loaded goods train derailed last Friday between FSG and Rumike Engineering close to Bindura
University of Science Education’s Astra Campus.
Andrew Kanambura, NRZ Communications officer, said technical staff from the locomotive entity
were on ground attending to the problem.
“I can confirm that there has been a derailment of our shunt locomotive carrying fertilisers for FSG in
Bindura. Our derailment team is now on the site and the rerailment process has commenced,” he
said.
No one was reported injured in the accident.
The railways infrastructure in Bindura has been tampered with as illegal gold miners are currently
exploring for the precious mineral along the railway line adjacent to Metro Peech and Browne along
the Bindura – Shamva railway line in Bindura. mini
The line has been damaged badly, with the rail panels left in suspense after the artisanal miners dug
underneath the infrastructure.
The line has since been decommissioned.
Large tonnages of fertiliser ingredients agricultural inputs are transported to Bindura weekly.
