Two doctors to examine Redcliff serial killer

Kwekwe (The Times- New Ziana)- A -25-year-old Kwekwe businessman, who went berserk and allegedly killed six people and injured five others, will be examined by two doctors before being brought to court on October 25.

The accused person, Kheshow Thubelihle of Stoneclaire Rutendo in Redcliff appeared at the Kwekwe Magistrates Court on Sunday facing six counts of murder (as defined in Section 47(1) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 09:23) and five counts of attempted murder (as defined in Section 189 ARW Section 47 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 09:23).

Regional Magistrate Florence Nago however, remanded Kheshow in custody to October 25 and ordered that he be examined by two doctors at Kwekwe General Hospital in terms of the Mental Health Act.

The accused, who owns Kheshow Investments in Kwekwe, told the court that he does not need legal representation since he can not afford the costs of hiring a lawyer.

The State opposed bail on the grounds that Kheshow seems to be suffering from mental disorder and is likely to commit further serious offences.

The State further alleges that the accused person is likely to abscond and avoid prosecution due to the gravity of the case.

It is the State case that on October 8 around 0900hours, Kheshow became mentally disturbed and acted violently whilst at his residential place in Rutendo.

He was then ferried by his aunt Tsungai Moyo (43) to Johanne Masowe shrine for prayers. Whilst at the shrine, he allegedly became violent, uprooted trees pushing stationery vehicles and the church congregants managed to subdue and tied him with some ropes.

On October 9 around 0230hours, Kheshow took advantage that other church members were still asleep and untied himself, got into his vehicle and drove off to his house.

Upon arrival he found his wife, Nothando Sibindi (25) not home and he armed himself with three spears, an axe, kitchen knife and one hoe handle and proceeded to his wife’s sister,Nemakosi Sibindi’s residence. where he allegedly smashed the front dining room door using an unknown object and gained entry into the house.

Nemakosi Sibindi escaped through the bedroom window upon realizing the state of mind of the accused person, leaving her five children sleeping in the dining room.

Nemakosi Sibindi later returned back home and found her children lying unconscious with multiple stab wounds. She then took the children to Letwin Kwiridzanai’shouse where they sought refuge and assistance.Kheshow is alleged to have stabbedLetwin twice on the back with a sharp object.

He went on to stab Mercy Savanhu (33)twice on the chest and once on the head with a sharp object. He allegedly hit Xolani Sikwili (33) with a hoe handle on the head and stabbed him with an unknown sharp object on the neck leading to his death. He allegedly stabbedLareto Sikwili (7months old)on the head and chest with a sharp object.

Kheshow returned to his residence and allegedly stabbed Lina Moyo (56) and Meggie Nkiwane (85) and they both died on the spot.

He then went back to Letwin’s residence and forcibly took Nemakosi Sibindi (27), force-marched her to his residence where heallegedly raped her once.

The victims were referred to Kwekwe General Hospital where Mitchell Moyo, Lucky Moyo and Lareto Sikwilli died on admission.

Letwin contacted ZRP Redcliff, who summoned the ambulance. Scene was attended by details from ZRP Redcliff, Support Unit and CID Kwekwe.Kheshow was arrested at the scene and was taken to Kwekwe General Hospital under police guard.

Three blood-stained spears, an axe and a kitchen knife were recovered in the accused’s bedroom and a hoe handle was recovered near Xolani Sikwili’s body.

Bodies of deceased which were lying in a pool of blood, were taken to Kwekwe General Hospital for post mortem.
