Kwekwe (New Ziana) – As the country braces for parliamentary and local council by-elections set for March, President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday urged Zimbabweans to elect candidates and political parties with a vision to improve their lives.
On Thursday, he proclaimed 26th of March as the date on which by-elections will be held to fill vacant parliamentary and local council seats countrywide.
The seats fell vacant due to death and re-assignment of the sitting legislators and councilors.
The Nomination Court will sit on 26 January 2022.
“As we prepare for by-elections which should be held on 26 March, I call upon our people to vote in office political parties and individuals who are committed to wholeheartedly serve the people and improve their quality of life,” said President Mnangagwa.
The by-elections had been held up for several months due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
