KWEKWE (New Ziana)– Voting in ZANU-PF primary elections in Kwekwe district kick-off this morning but was delayed by 30 minutes to an hour due to the late distribution of ballot papers, mostly in high density polling centres.
By 7am, scores of people were seen milling around a polling station in Kwekwe’s Ward 5 waiting for the arrival of the polling officers and ballot papers.
“I was told voting will start by 7am, so I came much earlier so that I can cast my vote and go to church and then wait for the results, but up to now, the ballot papers and officials have not arrived. They started the distribution of ballot papers in Mbizo 15 and they are using one vehicle for the distribution of ballot papers and officials.
“We are still waiting but other voters said they will come back after church,” said Gogo Tecla Shumba of Ward 5.
There was also a delay in the start of voting in Amaveni due to the late distribution of ballot papers.
Voting in low density areas of Msasa Park, Newtown and Fitchlea kicked off on time without any challenges.
