Dubai (New Ziana) – Vice President General Constantino Chiwenga (Rtd) is expected to lead a high powered delegation to Dubai for the sixth edition of the Global Business Forum Africa (GBF) which Zimbabwe intends to use to scout for business opportunities and to further its engagement and re-engagement agenda.
The forum, to be held on the sidelines of the six month Expo2020 Dubai, will run from October 13-14.
According to the event website, the GBF facilitates international revenue flows by engaging leading decision-makers on the global investment scene.
Influential stakeholders participate in constructive dialogue at the highest level, focusing on key economic developments and investment opportunities emerging across the continent.
Expo2020 Dubai-Zimbabwe commissioner general ambassador Mary Mubi confirmed VP Chiwenga’s impending visit to Dubai, highlighting that it would give impetus to Zimbabwe’s participation at the global showcase.
“VP Chiwenga is coming to join the Global Business Forum which starts in a few days time which is focusing on Africa. We belive that it will give additional impetus to what we are trying to do here, because obviously when we have a person of his stature it also highlights what we are trying to do in the pavilion and the importance with which we view the engagement agenda,” she said.
“That we have people of that seniority in government who will come in order to give added impetus to what we are doing is extremely important. It will obviously generate a lot of interest and we believe that his programme is going to be extremely exciting not just for us but will also give us an opportunity to highlight the Zimbabwean pavilion.”
Mubi said the Vice President will be accompanied by Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu, among other government officials.
