GWERU – The ruling Zanu PF has called for close collaboration with heads of schools in Gweru
district as the country prepares for the 2023 harmonised elections.
Speaking at the launch of Heads for Economic Development (Heads4ED) Gweru district at Chaplin
High School, Central committee member Farai Nugget Manyima told heads that the party has an
open-door policy and is willing to work with all leaders in the district to increase development in
    schools.
Manyima said heads lead public institutions of education under the government and under
President Emmerson Mnangagwa, therefore the relationship between heads of schools and Zanu PF
    party should be solid.
He encouraged school heads to be active party members and seek positions in its structures.
The central committee member said the ruling party is the one that strategises policy making which
is later approved by the government before it is implemented for the benefit of the general
    populace.
The relationship between Zanu PF and school heads can be likened to that of a father and child
which means if any problems arise for the child, the child reports to the father and the father helps
    the child,said Manyima.
Another Central Committee member Wellington Magura said school heads should spearhead the
move to make sure that people vote for President Mnangagwa in the coming 2023 harmonised
    elections.
He said heads should play a pivotal role in inspiring and motivating teachers and parents as well as
the youths to vote for the ruling party.
Let us not bite the hand that gives us food but let us all move in one accord and success will be
    irreversible, he said.
Magura also challenged teachers and heads to treat their students with caution following reports
from parents that some teachers and heads were abusing children at their institutions.
He also urged school heads to shun the issue of charging fees strictly in USD and sending children
who have not paid fees home citing that heads should communicate with parents on payment plans
while children proceed with their education.
In an interview, one of the school heads applauded Zanu PF for conducting such a programme which
supports patriotism and unites school heads around the city.
The headmaster said initiatives such as the Heads4ED is needed because it allows them to interact
with political parties and also gives them the opportunities to air their grievances and plight freely.
