Zanu PF is the party of choice:ED

Bindura (New Ziana) – Zanu PF remains the only game in town, and continues to demonstrate its capabilities by the way it has handled emerging crises including the COVID-19 pandemic, President Emerson Mnangagwa has said.
President Mnangagwa said this while officially opening the hybrid ruling Zanu PF party’s annual national people’s conference in Bindura, Mashonaland East Province.
He said the way government has handled the COVID-19 pandemic is ample evidence of its capacity to deliver on its mandate.
Zimbabwe currently ranks as one of the most vaccinated countries in Africa and has recorded fairly low cases of the virus, confounding critics who had predicted a bloodbath.
“Zanu PF is indeed the only party with a rich history, which brought about independence and democracy through the protracted armed liberation struggle. It is also the only party which has plans and programs for the present growth and prosperity of our country. We are the only party with a solid vision for the future. This should galvanise all cadres to guarantee that Zanu PF remains the party of choice, ” he said.
“This 19th national people’s conference must therefore allow us to make known the extent that which we have achieved and that which we have envisioned in previous congress and conference resolutions as well as the 2018 people’s manifesto.”
President Mnangagwa added:” The manner in which we handled the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrates that we are indeed a caring government that values the lives of the people of our great mother country Zimbabwe. As it was with our liberation armed struggle and is evident in the present development, Zanu PF is the shield of our nation. We as Zanu PF have the necessary resolve and resourcefulness to confront dangers that threaten our nation and our people. In the wake of the pandemic, we confounded the sinister predictions and bizarre exhortations of our detractors.”
President Mnangagwa said Zanu PF was forging ahead with implementing its developmental plans despite several challenges.
He said as part of its arsenal, the ruling party, through government, was unleashing several socio-economic development programs including setting up beneficitiation industries in rural areas.
One such example is the Marula processing plant which President Mnangagwa commissioned early this week in Mwenezi, in Masvingo Province.
“Despite the adversity of these illegal sanctions, the Zanu PF government continues to forge ahead in unity to attain the status of a prosperous and empowered upper middle income country. We have taken deliberate and unapologetic steps towards improving the lives of all Zimbabweans and building our country brick upon brick, stone upon stone
“The land is now permanently reunited with the people there is no going back , the land reform programme is irreversible and indeed behind us.
All of us have a sacred responsibility to fully and sustainably utilise this land, that which is on it and that which is under it to improve the quality of life of our people and to build a prosperous economy for the present and future generations,” he said.
“In line with the promises made in the 2018 election manifesto and previous congress and conference resolutions our economy is projected to grow by 7.8 percent and is the highest growing economy on the continent.
” Zimbabwe has opened for business and instituted far reaching ease of doing business reforms, these have seen foreign direct investment complemented by local investments and diaspora remittances reaching unprecedented levels.”
But, for all this to happen, President Mnangagwa said the ruling party should keep alive its revolutionary ethos, principles and values.
“Patriotism, loyalty and discipline, hard honest work, unity, peace and development must remain key tenets of all our policies now and into the future. The conviction of the party under the Second Republic is that our national development must be achieved leaving no one behind and leaving no place behind, ” he said.
“Accordingly we are succesfuly steering the course towards a modernising, industrialising and growing our economy. The successes we continue to achieve are evidence for all honest and progressive minded persons.”
