MARONDERA- The ruling Zanu PF which triumphed in the August 23/24
harmonised elections will hold Thank You rallies in every constituency in
appreciation of the voters who showed their confidence in the party and gave it
another mandate to run the nation’s affairs for the next five years.

In Mashonaland East, the party won 19 of the 23 contested constituencies and the
province was the second-best perfoming after Mashonaland Central which won all its
    seats.

Marondera Central, Ruwa, Seke and Goromonzi South are the four constituencies
that were bagged by the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

To prove its dominance in Mashonaland East, Zanu PF won by huge, convincing
margins in constituencies such as Maramba-Pfungwe where the party’s candidate
Tichaona Karumazondo garnered a whopping 25 757 votes against the CCC’s
    Chiratidzo Chimunhu’s 1 148.

The other biggest winners for Zanu PF were Wiriranai Muchemwa (Uzumba) who
had 24 588 votes as compared to Cosmas Konono of the CCC’s 1 977 and Itai
Ndudzo (Hwedza North) who polled 18 762 votes against CCC’s Mapfumo Katsaya’s
    5 711 votes.

In the Presidential poll, President Emmerson Mnangagwa emerged victorious and
secured another five-year term with 2 350 711 votes equating to 52.6 percent while
CCC leader Nelson Chamisa managed 44 percent of the votes cast with 1 967 343
    votes.

Zanu PF national political commissar Mike Bimha recently told party members at the
provincial headquarters that Thank You rallies will be lined up to thank all those who
voted and helped the party to achieve a majority in Parliament as well as pave the
way for President Mnangagwa to rule for another term.

“Mashonaland East province did not disappoint in the August 23/24 harmonised
elections and so did the other provinces where we won more seats to maintain our
grip on power. We were triumphant in a number of constituencies and we will soon
be moving around, giving thanks to all those who made us achieve our victory in
Parliament as well as the Presidential vote.

“Our victory was non-negotiable and we are still in a celebratory mood, hence we
want to thank the people for this feat. Our victory will help the Government formed by
President Mnangagwa to continue fostering the growth of our economy, implement
policies and attend to the people’s welfare,” Bimha said.
