Harare,  (New Ziana) –Zanu PF youth have been urged to serve as the vanguard of the party and uphold the highest standards of discipline.

Party secretary for Youth Affairs, Tino Machakaire, made the call during the Zanu PF Youth League National Executive meeting held on Thursday.

The meeting, the first this year, was held to discuss targeted programs for the year ahead.

Machakaire warned that the party is currently facing challenges from those seeking to create division and urged the youth to exercise discipline and avoid being swayed from the core mission of the party.

“Our colossal Party, ZANU PF is under siege by those bent on sowing discord and confusion within the Party. It is therefore incumbent upon us as the vanguard of the Party to ensure we staunchly defend the revolution,” he said.

“Let me emphasize on the need for us all to exercise extreme discipline especially in these times where it is easy to get excitable and swayed from our cause. Let us refrain from the politics of insulting each other, especially our leaders,” he added.

Machakaire said the youth should channel their energies into ensuring that the national vision to achieve an upper-middle-income economy by 2030 is realized.

He added that the visionary progressive work that is being carried out under the astute leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa should be advanced.

“In our respective departments and portfolios, may we actively be looking for ways and means to advance this work. I am challenging each one of us here to comprehensively explore ways on how we can empower our youths,” he said.

Machakaire reminded the league members that one of their mandates as a wing should be to ensure the employment and empowerment of their constituency.

“We have noted with concern how those being recruited and employed in the civil service lack the grounding ideologies of ZANU PF, those which tell us who we are as a nation and that teach us to put country first. “We are therefore calling upon the Public Service Commission (PSC) to give first priority to our Youth Service in Zimbabwe graduates,” he said.
