GWERU — In a move that has garnered widespread acclaim from the Christian community, the
Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) has commended the governments decision to grant national
heros status to Archbishop Ezekiel Guti, founder of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa Forward
    in Faith.
The revered clergyman, who passed away on July 5 in South Africa at 100 years, will be laid to rest at
    the national shrine on Saturday.
The decision to grant the revered clergyman national heros status has been met with widespread
approval within the Christian community and beyond.
It symbolises the governments recognition of the invaluable role played by religious leaders in
shaping the nation’s moral fabric and promoting unity and compassion among its citizens.
ZCC President Bishop Ignatius Makumbe expressed deep gratitude to the government for
recognising the significant contributions of the iconic cleric Archbishop Guti to both the Christian
faith and the nation as a whole.
I appreciate that those who are responsible for declaring national heroes in the country have seen
it fit that he be declared as suchu, stated Bishop Makumbe.
It’s good that they are considering the Christian family as well to be national heroes. It's good that
they have recognised his efforts in the Christian faith ministry.
As preparations for Archbishop Gutis interment at the national shrine are underway, thousands of
Zimbabweans from all walks of life are expected to gather to bid farewell to a man whose life
exemplified unwavering faith, humility, and dedication to the betterment of society.
Archbishop Guti dedicated his life to the spiritual upliftment of Zimbabweans, founding ZAOGA FIF in
1958. He was the founder of Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU), which was established in
2012 and Mbuya Dorcas Hospital in Harare.
Under his leadership, the church grew exponentially and played a vital role in shaping the religious
landscape of the nation. Known for his fervent teachings, unwavering commitment to social justice,
and compassion towards the less fortunate, Archbishop Guti left an indelible mark on the hearts and
    minds of his followers.
