Harare (New Ziana)- The widow of the late music legend, Zexie Manatsa, Stella has died.
According to reports, Stella died in her sleep, eight months after the passing on of her husband.
Her son, Tendai Manatsa tweeted; “My mother passed away this morning. I just lost my father eight months ago; I am not ready for this. Rest in peace mom. Love you so much.”
Zexie and Stella, a power couple in music circles, are famed for filling the Rufaro Stadium with a crowd of 50 000, when they tied the knot in August 1979.
Her husband’s music career started in the 60s, and he has been credited with contributing immensely to Zimbabwe’s independence through satirical and poetic music compositions as well as mentoring upcoming musicians.
Upon his death, Zexie was granted a state assisted funeral in recognition of his contribution to Zimbabwe’s music industry.
Manatsa, whose hits include Baba Tipeiwo Ndege, Musango Mune Hangaiwa, Chipo Chrioorwa and Tea Hobvu, died after a long battle with cance.r
Stella is survived by 6 children and 14 grandchildren.
