CHINHOYI – THE Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) and Western Knights rugby
teams’ coach, Tafadzwa Zhangazha, is calling on interested rugby players to make up an Under-
    20s rugby community team.
Zhangazha, who coaches both the CUT and Western Knights rugby teams, is calling for players
to join the community team that will include players from CUT and the community under
Western Knights, a Chinhoyi-based rugby team.
Zhangazha led the CUT rugby team to many victories when he was captain of the team but said
they were still recruiting players for the Under-20s rugby team.
“We are still trying to make the Under-20 team. We are still taking players. We are still
    recruiting,” he said.
He said that it was unfortunate that some view rugby as a dangerous sport although it was not.
“It is unfortunate that people see rugby as a very dangerous game, but it’s also just like any other
    sport.”
Zhangazha began his rugby journey, when he was in Grade Three at Lomagundi Primary School
in 2004 and was very passionate about the sport.
He played for the Zimbabwe Under-18 team in 2014 and joined the Atexus Rugby team in 2014,
which also became a great stepping stone for his career.
In 2018 he was appointed captain of the CUT rugby team.
The same year, he led the team to victory at the institution’s competition and qualified for the
Confederation of Universities and College Sports Association (CUCSA) competitions.
At this point in 2018 the CUT rugby team had no coach but still managed to attain victory.
The team went for the CUCSA and returned home with a gold medal. This was the first medal
won by CUT at national level.
He became CUT coach last year.
“In 2022, we won every single tournament until all universities started calling our team the kings
    of rugby,” said Zhangazha.
“We managed to win the Zimbabwe Universities Sports Association (ZUSA) competitions,
Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union (ZTISU) competitions, and also qualified again for
the CUCSA competitions in Malawi, although we didn’t attend due to issues beyond our
    control,” he said.
“After our victory against the most prominent rugby team, UZ, all rugby fans and every other
team started called us the kings of rugby,”
