ZIFA Mash East expels three clubs from provincial league

Share

MARONDERA- Following their continued failure to pay affiliation fees to participate
in the ZIFA Mashonaland East Division 2 league, three clubs were expelled from the
setup.
At the beginning of the season, Zifa Mash East boss Oscar Tsvuura hinted that clubs
that fail to honour their financial obligations will be penalised.
The teams that did not pay their affiliation fees resulting in their expulsion are Kotwa
United, Auto Beatrice and Calvary.
The expelled clubs, who owed the league a combined US$1 680, were also
reportedly failing to pay match fees.
Tsvuura told Chaminuka Sport that despite efforts made to engage the clubs on the
affiliation fees no progress had been hence the decision to expel them.
We expelled three clubs from the province's Division 2 league after they failed to
pay the affiliation fees as had been expected from them. The decision to expel
Kotwa United, Calvary and Auto Beatrice was reached after we noted that the clubs
were not willing to pay the fees yet others paid, or had payment plans that they were
adhering to.
Affiliation fees help us to effectively run the league and there are several things that
need to be bought to do the league's administrative work. There are rentals and
other bills that need to be paid and there is no way we can be able to move forward if
some clubs are not willing to do what others would be doing," Tsvuura said.
Apart from the three expelled clubs, it was revealed that three other clubs have been
put on notice and given altimatums to pay their affiliation fees or risk being booted
out of the league.
The three clubs put on notice are also struggling to honour their financial obligations
are Orange View, Beatrice Chiefs and St Lucy.
The league’s management set an affiliation fee structure of US$1 000 for clubs that
were already in the set up while new clubs were mandated to pay US$1 250.
However, paying such fees has been a mammoth task for the majority of teams as
only four of them have fully paid their affiliation fees.

A few months ago, the ZIFA Mashonaland East leadership resolved to expel four
clubs that included Kanyongo FC, Ben Academy and Goromonzi Stars after the
clubs failed to pay anything to be part of the championship.
Apart from failing to pay the affiliation fees, the expelled clubs were also failing to
fulfill their fixtures, thereby resulting in shambolic tabling as the current log indicate
that some of the teams in the league have already played up to six matches while
others had played only two.
Meanwhile, the team that will win the provincial championship will automatically join
the Eastern Region (Division 1) Soccer League which is made up of teams from
Mashonaland East, Manicaland and Masvingo provinces.
