Harare (New Ziana)-Fourteen people tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday, bringing Zimbabwe’s confirmed cases to 279, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said on Sunday.
In a daily update, the Ministry said all new cases were recorded among citizens who recently returned from South Africa.
“Fourteen (14) cases tested positive for Covid-19 today. These are all returnees from South Africa and are all isolated.
“To date the total number of confirmed cases is 279, recovered 33, active cases 242 and 4 deaths, since the onset of the outbreak on 20 March 2020,” it added.
Of the 279 Covid-19 cases, Harare province has the highest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases at 98 followed by Matabeleland south with 41.
Cumulatively, Zimbabwe has tested 52 725 samples for Covid-19.
Over the past few months Zimbabwe has been receiving some of its citizens who are being repatriated mainly from South Africa and Botswana, as well as others who are returning voluntarily after losing their livelihoods in lockdowns effected in countries across the globe.
