Zim Covid-19 cases surge to 356

Harare (New Ziana)-The number of Covid-19 cases in Zimbabwe rose to 356 after 13 people tested positive with the virus on Saturday, the Ministry of Health and Child Care has said.

In a daily update, the Ministry said all the new cases were recorded among citizens who recently returned from South Africa and the United Kingdom.

“Thirteen (13) cases tested positive for Covid-19 today. These include returnees from South Africa (12), United Kingdom (1) and are all isolated,” it said.

The number of recovered Covid-19 patients also rose to 54.

“To date, the total number of confirmed cases is 356; recovered 54, active cases 298 and 4 deaths since the onset of the outbreak on 20 March, 2020,” said the Ministry.

Harare has recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases with 125 followed by Masvingo which has 49 cases and Matabeleland South province with 46.

Cumulatively, Zimbabwe has tested 58 239 samples for Covid-19.
