Zim pavilion at Expo2020-Dubai impresses VP Chiwenga

Dubai (New Ziana) – Vice President General Constantino Chiwenga (Rtd) on Wednesday toured Zimbabwe’s pavilion at Expo2020-Dubai and commended the impressive design and set up, highlighting that it aptly captures and showcases the country’s journey and developmental aspirations.
Zimbabwe’s pavilion is divided into four zones and has unique designs showcasing some of the country’s World Heritage sites including the Great Zimbabwe and one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Victoria Falls.
These are complemented by an array of pictures of prominent Zimbabweans from various sectors and catchy displays of the opportunities available in agriculture, mining, tourism and other sectors.
The pavilion ends at zone 4 which has been cited as key to the unpacking projects and initiatives that complement the country’s Vision 2030.
Zimbabwe is aiming to attain an upper-middle income economy status by 2030.
A combination of digital screens, communication tablets, digital Zimbabwe Map and other well lit chevron picture frames further enhance the ambience in the pavilion.
Speaking after a guided tour by Expo2020-Dubai- Zimbabwe commissioner general ambassador Mary Mubi, Vice President Chiwenga said;“The pavilion is Illustrative of what Zimbabwe is, it shows the history of Zimbabwe, how Zimbabwe has grown from way back centuries ago to the present and what we are aiming to achieve. In a nutshell this has been put together and this has been properly set up.”
“This gives the picture to the world,” he said.
After visiting the Zimbabwe pavilion, Vice President Chiwenga also toured the Chinese, Russian, Rwandan pavilions.
He also made a stop at the DP World pavilion, a ports and logistics infrastructure company that has expressed interest in investing in Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, VP Chiwenga joined several other dignitaries and captains of industry including Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai at the official opening of the 6th Global Business Forum Africa being held on the sidelines of Expo2020-Dubai.
Vice President Chiwenga is scheduled to address the forum on Thursday.
Officially opening the two day forum, Dubai Chamber of commerce chairman Hamad Buamim said the GBFA sought to explore avenues of economic cooperation between Africa and the UAE.
“Hosting this forum at Expo2020 Dubai is not only adding significance to the business forum but also opens new frontiers for companies from the UAE that are keen to explore the business potential in Africa,” he said.
“We believe that there is no better platform to showcase the vast economic potential that the continent offers than the first world expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region
The aim of this forum is to engage government leaders, and businesses from around the world, to collaborate and foster closer partnerships that drive sustainable economic growth and to build a brighter future for everyone.”
