Dubai (New Ziana) – Zimbabwe is keen to utilise the global interest that has been generated by its participation at Expo2020 Dubai to showcase its diverse investment and trade opportunities and to further its re-engagement agenda, a senior government official has said.

The showcase, which opened on Thursday and will end in March 2022, is running under the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the future.”

Zimbabwe, which is targeting to transform into an upper middle income economy by 2030, has cited re-engagement and attracting increased foreign direct investments as crucial to the attainment of this vision.

Zimbabwe, which is among over 190 other countries that are showcasing at the Expo, is participating under the theme: “Zimbabwe- the Land of Great Opportunities.”

Zimbabwean companies and products drawn from several sectors, including goods made by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will be on display during the six month expo.

In a statement, Expo 2020 Dubai- Zimbabwe Commissioner General Ambassador Mary Mubi said Zimbabwe’s pavilion had already started attracting attention.

“Zimbabwe’s participation at Expo2020 Dubai, UAE, has generated a lot of interest to the world. The pavilion is one of the most visible and well dressed in the opportunities district, located at the epicenter of the Expo site closer to the United Emirates Pavilion and the much talked about Al Wasl Plaza which will host the official opening and country National Day’s,” she said.

“Continued coordination between the Expo Team and Team Zimbabwe saw the pavilion being one of the first to reach completion level ahead of the official opening and highly commended for its level of organization and smooth flow of the storyline.”

Mubi said Zimbabwe’s pavilion is divided into four zones and has unique designs showcasing some of the country’s World Heritage sites including the Great Zimbabwe and one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Victoria Falls.

“These are complemented by an array of pictures of the people of Zimbabwe which brings ambience to the external facade that has been described by many as one of the most attractive in the district,” she said.

“Zone 4, the biggest zone has been viewed by many as the key to the unrolling of projects that complement Vision 2030. A combination of digital screens, communication tablets, digital Zimbabwe Map and other well lit chevron picture frames have enhanced ambience and visitor preference before one exits the pavilion. The entire pavilion has a savannah background that creates a neutral outlook throughout the flow of spaces.

“The Zimbabwe pavilion is set to attract a lot of visitors as it is strategically located closer to key nodes such as the Al Wasl Plaza and the Emirates Pavilion.”
