Harare (New Ziana) -The Zimbabwe Publishing House (ZPH) has extended to all underprivileged schools in the country, the books donation initiative that it launched to mark 42 years of existence in the industry, an official said on Wednesday.

When it launched the inaugural books donation initiative in March this year, the company donated Elementary, Primary and Secondary School textbooks to 42 underprivileged schools in the country.

In an interview with New Ziana, ZPH marketing officer Progress Chigangaidze said after seeing the impact of the initiative on the selected underprivileged schools, they decided to expand it to others in the same category throughout the country.

“This initiative came as a way of celebrating our 42 years in the industry and after seeing the impact it had on the underprivileged schools, we then decided to engage the corporate and individual stakeholders,” he said.

In the expanded drive, the company would match every donation made by any individual or corporate.

“The ZPH will match or double any donation to any school of choice and if a stakeholder donates ZPH textbooks worth $500, the company will give $500 worth of books to the school so that the recipient school will end up with $1000 worth of books,” said Chigangaidze.

Donors would also have their personal or corporate information written on each of the donated books.

Chigangaidze said the books donation initiative would run until the end of the year with plans to make it an annual event.
