Harare, (New Ziana) –Zimbabwean talent continues to make waves on the international stage, with Kudakwashe Mukushi becoming the latest national to achieve a significant milestone in the financial sector following his appointment as the new ABSA Bank Botswana Limited executive director and finance director, effective on June 1, 2025.

In a statement through the Botswana Stock Exchange, ABSA Bank Botswana Limited board said the selection of Mukushi followed a meticulous and competitive recruitment process.

The board emphasized the strategic nature of the appointment, noting that shareholder endorsement at the bank’s 40th Annual General Meeting will confirm Mukushi as executive director.

“Following a rigorous recruitment process, the Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Kudakwashe Mukushi as Finance Director and Executive Director of the Company,” read part of the official notice.

Mukushi brings with him a wealth of experience spanning over 23 years in the financial services sector after holding key leadership roles across Southern Africa in insurance, pensions, and asset management.

Notably, he served as Chief Financial Officer in multiple listed companies, where he led functions in finance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

In addition to his executive credentials, Mukushi is well-versed in corporate governance, having served as a Non-Executive Director across several regional boards, including in Botswana, Malawi, and Zambia.

His leadership in board committees, especially audit and investment, reflects a track record of sound financial stewardship in both banking and insurance industries.

Mukushi holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the Solusi University.

He is a CFA Charter holder and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).

He also sharpened his executive skills at Harvard Business School through the Senior Executive Program for Africa.

The ABSA Botswana Board expressed optimism about the new chapter ahead.

“On behalf of Management, Employees and Stakeholders of the Company, the Board welcomes Kudakwashe into this new role and is confident that his wealth of experience will inspire further delivery of the Company’s ambitions and resolve to provide shareholder value and contribute to the communities in which we operate,” it said.
