Harare (New Ziana) – The Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ) on Tuesday mourned veteran scribe, Conway Tutani, who collapsed and died on Monday afternoon at his home in Houghton Park in Harare.

    He was aged 67.

“The Zimbabwe Union of Journalists would like to pay its deepest condolences to the Tutani family, friends and the journalism community following the sudden death of veteran journalist and writer Conway Tutani,” said ZUJ in a statement.

ZUJ said before starting out his journalism career, Tutani briefly worked in the civil service from 1980 to 1981.

He then left government service to join Zimpapers as head of its sub-editors desk.

“He stayed there (at Zimpapers) for the next 18 years before leaving in 1999 to assume the same position of head proof reader at the AMH.

“In 2004, he rejoined Zimpapers as their deputy chief-sub-editor and stayed there for another 6 years before finally rejoining AMH in 2010 as assistant editor. Tutani was supposed to have left AMH in 2015, but that never happened as the two parties agreed new working terms.”
