FOR assaulting his mother with fists, a violent 37-year-old Zimuto man has been caged for an
effective 10 months behind bars by a Masvingo magistrate.
Magistrate Elizabeth Hanzie convicted Galvin Mukoshozo of Muzenda Village, Chief Zimuto,
Masvingo, for contravening sections of the Domestic Violence Act on his own plea of guilty.
Precious Takuva for the State told the court that on December 18 last year around 8pm, a
drunken Mukoshozo arrived home and assaulted his mother, Merjury Mukoshozo with clenched
fists five times on the head after learning that she had prevented his younger brother, Nigel
Mukoshozo, from delivering river sand to the homestead of Herbert Muzenda as he had
instructed.
The magistrate sentenced Mukoshozo to an effective 10 months after taking into consideration
previous convictions he had for similar offences involving violence.
