A 23-year-old Bikita man has been sentenced to an effective 18 years imprisonment
by a Bikita Magistrate for stock theft.
Tarisai Tinarwo of Gangare Village, Bikita, appeared before Magistrate Takawira
Mugabe facing three counts of stock theft, which he committed in the Chikuku area.
He will effectively serve 18 years in jail after the sentence for another count was
made to run concurrently with another.
It was agreed that in August this year Tinarwo stole seven beasts belonging to
Panganai Dudzai of Mhedzano Village and tried selling them.
Six cattle were recovered after four days by the villagers and the seventh beast was
recovered by the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Chikuku base.
On other two counts three cattle were stolen last month and Tinarwo tried selling
them in Buhera, but failed to find buyers.
