Giving Poaching a red card as always is the motto for the wildlife sponsored league the RCCL ZIM-
IGANYANA division as it approaches the home stretch. The teams were all busy with conservation
activities throughout the year with some removing the deadly snares around the parks area and in
the periphery. Two teams seem to be determined to take it to the wire so to speak.
As the teams approach round 37 of games with two left to reach the finish line the big question is
who will reach the line first? This can be answered by Zebras from Chezhou who lead the line with
82 points from second placed Honey Badgers from Dete Township who have 80 points.
Meanwhile fixtures are crucial to the two title chasing teams Zebras FC and Honey Badgers FC. The
fixtures were also made in such a way that it was prophesised that the two teams will be leading.
Both Zebras and Honey Badgers are away this weekend and they conclude their marathon at home
in front of their fans hoping to be crowned champions hoping the other loses while the other wins.
RCCL Zim-Iganyana league CEO Ndodana Masuku who is also a teacher by profession jokingly said as
the two bulls fight for championship, as Mathematicians they are now applying the “if factor”.
“As Mathematicians we already have ourcalculations on air. The "if " factor also coming into effect. If
Eagles beats Zebras, Badgers will be in front, if they win. And if Sables beat visiting Honey Badgers,
and if Zebras wins it will be all over. That is the "if factor". Anyways away from the " if factor " the
reality of it is that Eagles FC hosts Zebras FC at Lupote.
Sables host Honey Badgers at Hwange Main Camp. Eagles riding high from their nine unbeaten run
are so determined to be party spoilers as this is the team that has been hovering in the relegation
zone for the better part of the season, second half they came determined to end the season in a
respectable position”, said Masuku.
The Adolph Namenda coached side has been doing well going for nine games without a defeat. They
boast of seasoned campaigners in captain Likhwa Masuku who has been holding fort in their defence
as he was chosen to be one of the 11 soccer stars finalists. Victor " Bravo " Ncube , veteran David
Dube and Bruno Mutara are key to this encounter.
Zebras FC have the league top goalscorer and soccer star of the year finalist Devine Nekatambe and
another soccer star finalist Abel Nyathi to watch. Veterans Abel Ncube and Governor Sikapila can
also cause damage if unchecked. This is a do or die, game for Zebras FC.
They know very well that dropping points at such crucial stage will be detrimental to their
ambitions. On the other fixtures Honey Badgers playing with less pressure as being chasers gives
them an extra advantage.
Sables FC like Eagles FC started on a bad note but are slowly grinding results as they are comfortable
in the middle of the table and so determined to end on a high note. They have a seasoned gaffer
Lameck Goredema and young and hungry players in Kudzai "Bhonzo" Masiya and Tawanda
Masvokisi to look up to. They always give Honey Badgers a torrid time each time they meet.
Maqhoba the Honey Badgers gaffer knows that any slip will give Zebras FC the title. Soccer star of
the year finalist Michael Nedziwe and company will need to put an extra shift if there are to come up
with a full set of points. Who will come tops? Watch the space.
