MUTARE-Mutasa South Member of Parliament, Advocate Misheck Mugadza
has been appointed Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in
Manicaland following the reversal of the appointment of Nokuthula
Matsikenyere.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa this week reversed the appointments of John
Paradza and Nokuthula Matsikenyere, as they are not Members of Parliament or
Senate.
Speaking briefly in an interview soon after his appointment, Minister Mugadza
said he was honoured to be appointed to the post and was ready to fulfil his
mandate as the servant of the people.
“I am honoured and extremely humbled to have been appointed as the Minister
of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in Manicaland. I have accepted
the appointment with humility. This is an allotment of time with a
conglomeration of opportunities and an assortment of positive possibilities to
build, construct and develop Manicaland Province and Zimbabwe at large.
“I would like to assure President Mnangagwa and the people of Manicaland and
Zimbabwe at large that by the help of God I am going to do everything in my
limited power and humanly possible to fulfil this mandate,” he said.
Mugadza takes over the reins from Nokuthula Matsikenyrere who served
Manicaland for the past two years following the passing on of Ellen
Gwaradzimba in 2021.
Gwaradzimba, who took over from Monica Mutsvangwa in 2019 succumbed to
Covid 19 complications in January 2021 leading to the appointment of then
Chimanimani West legislator Matsikenyere.
Meanwhile, the province of Manicaland becomes richer after long serving
Member of Parliament for Chimanimani East Constituency, Joshua Sacco was
also appointed Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development.
