MUTARE- A Chipinge man has been arrested for allegedly beating his 13-year-
old daughter to death after accusing her of stealing beans from the neighbours’
    fields.
Knowledge Chafunga (45) of Gadzai Village, Chief Chamutsa, Buhera
repeatedly thrashed Gladys Chafunga with a wooden stick on her back, head
    and buttocks.
Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Muzondo said they had since
arrested Chafunga and investigations were underway.
“We have arrested a man in Chipinge who beat his daughter to the point of
death after he accused her of stealing beans from the neighbours,” said Insp
    Muzondo.
On the fateful day, Chafunga confronted his daughter over her delinquency and
went on to give her a beating as a form of discipline.
He later left home and went to the nearby shopping centre.
Gladys went on to hydrate and take a bath before she proceeded to her room to
    take a rest.
Later the same evening, the girl’s step mother, Eunice Mabuyaye called Gladys
for supper and realised that Gladys was unable to stand on her own.
Mabuyaye noticed that the child was in distress following the beating and
immediately rushed her to Birchenough hospital where she was pronounced
    dead on arrival.
The case was reported to the police leading to Chafunga’s arrest.
Meanwhile, a Mudzi man was arrested for murdering his wife following a
misunderstanding over an extra marital affair.
Takudzwa Siziba (23) of Funa Village, Chief Nechombo, Mudzi got home late
on September 7 and found male footprints at his bedroom doorstep.
Siziba confronted his wife, Mathar Nyambaro (19) over the matter to which she
    denied all allegations.

The following day, at 10pm, Siziba was escorting his wife and their two -year
old child to a church service when he decided to confront his wife once again
    over the matter.
It is along the way that Nyambaro confessed to having an affair with a man
    from Nyanga.
Siziba demanded to be escorted to the lover’s homestead but failed to contain
his emotions along the way turning violent against his wife.
He decided to beat her up resulting in Nyambaro sustaining a deep cut on the
    head and collapsing.
Siziba fled the scene and left his wife and child by the roadside.
The next morning, Nyambaro’s body was found lying in a pool of blood with
her baby sleeping 10 meters away from her body.
A police report was made leading to the arrest of Siziba as police investigations
    are still underway.
