    Zim records highest daily Covid-19 cases

    Harare (New Ziana)-Zimbabwe on Wednesday recorded 2 264 Covid-19 infections, the highest daily infections recorded since March last year when the first case was recorded in the country.

    Mashonaland West province led with 401 cases followed by Harare with 336 infections while Matabeleland South was third highest with 320 cases.

    The positive cases came out of at least 10 362 Covid-19 tests that were conducted with authorities indicating that efforts were being made to reach 15 000 tests daily.

    In a daily update, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said 34 people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of deaths to 1 973.

    Mashonaland West accounted for 10 of the 34 deaths.

    The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases is now 60 227.

    The Ministry noted that there are currently 15 924 active Covid-19 cases countrywide.
