CHINHOYI – ONE of the Municipality of Chinhoyi’s long-serving councillors, is set
contest as an independent after failing in the Citizen Coalition for Change nomination
    process.
Blackmore Nyangairo, who is the current councillor for Chinhoyi Ward 13 and has
served for three consecutive terms on an MDC-T ticket tried his luck to represent Ward
10 on a CCC ticket but could not make it. He subsequently filed his nomination papers
    as an independent candidate.
Nyangairo was confident that he will win the CCC primary elections process only to be
surprised to see he was not among those nominated.
The Alderman could not accept the outcome of the nomination process, which he said
was biased and was linked to CCC Mashonaland West local leadership factional fights.
He is now eyeing a fourth term, on his own, claiming that he will win during the August
23 election since the electorate knows the good work he has delivered.
Nyangairo’s Ward 13 was moved to Ward 10 following the Delimitation exercise.
Nyangairo only confirmed that he will be running for the seat as independent candidate.
“The people shall decide on the candidates they want. The primary election process
was not fair. Let’s give the people a chance to speak on their own. Voting for party
without knowing the candidate is a thing of the past. I cannot say much, let us wait for
    Election Day” said Nyangairo.
Chinhoyi constituency has three other candidates, who are running as independent
candidates in different other wards, Ward 4 has two candidates who filed their
nomination papers as independent candidates and one other independent candidate will
    be contesting in Ward 8.
