Another rapist nabbed in Murehwa

MARONDERA- Police in Murehwa have arrested Peace Taroiwa (18) from Sakutukwa village under Chief Mangwende in connection with a murder case that occurred following a misunderstanding during a snooker game.

It is alleged that Onias Honye succumbed to injuries he sustained when he was pushed and fell on a hard surface by Taroiwa following an undisclosed misunderstanding while in a snooker room at Dapandove Business Centre.

It is said Taroiwa pushed Honye who fell and hit his head on a corner of a cement made bench in the room.

The police spokesperson for Mashonaland East province, Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi, confirmed the tragic incident.

“After realising that Honye was injured, Taroiwa attempted to effect first aid on him to no avail and he left the place. After a while, Honye regained his consciousness and started loitering at the shops.

“During the afternoon on the same day, he was seen by his grandmother, Elizabeth Guze (85) lying by the the side of the road about 200 metres away from his homestead His grandmother carried him to his homestead. On the next day, one Godwin Guze (38) who is an uncle to Honye, went to the deceased’s homestead to check on him and discovered that his condition had become serious.

“Guze then made transport logistics to ferry him to the hospital. Moments later, he discovered that Honye was not showing any signs of life,” the provincial police spokesperson said.

The case was reported at ZRP Murehwa who attended the scene.

Investigation were in progress at the time of writing.
