    Archbishop Ezekiel Guti dies

    Harare (New Ziana) – Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (Zaoga) founder, Archbishop Professor Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti, has died.

    He was 100 years old.

    In an announcement on Ezekiel TV, Zaoga national executive chairman, Apostle Joseph Guti, said the veteran preacher died on Wednesday.

    He did not say what he had succumbed from.

    “To the Zaoga Forward in Faith International Executive, the National counsels of various nations, leaders and the precious Saints, l hereby announce to us the promotion to great glory of our icon Archbishop Professor Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti,” he said.

    “It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the promotion to great glory of our dearly beloved spiritual father, visionary and iconic leader.”

    “He has transition to be with His Lord and Master whom he faithfully and sacrificially served over eight decades. As the church leaders and family meet to deliberate on the program which will be announced in due course, we appeal to you to pray for our mother Apostle Professor Eunor Guti, the family and the church at large to be comforted by the Holy Spirit.” Guti said.

    Born on May 5, 1923 in Chipinge, Manicaland Province, the late Prof Guti was one of the most influential clergymen in Africa.

    His church, Zaoga, is one of the biggest indigenous churches in Zimbabwe, which also offered other social services such as education.

    A few years ago, he established Ezekiel Guti University in Mashonaland Central Province, offering various disciplines.

    President Emmerson Mnangagwa officiated at Prof. Guti’s 100th birthday celebrations in May.
