A scuffle that ensued between a 29-year-old Zaka man and his drinking partner,
when they were coming from a bottle store, ended tragically after he was stabbed
    three times.
Munyaradzi Rugowera of Ruzvidzo Village, Chief Nyakunhuwa in Zaka was allegedly
assaulted by Tawedzerwa Nezvikonde, who is now in police custody. They were
seen having an argument on July 20.
Masvingo provincial spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, said when the
police attended the scene, they discovered that Rugowera had stab wounds at the
back, above the right breast and on the chest.
“On July 20 at around 1pm, Rugowera was in the company of his drinking mate,
Nezvikonde, when they passed the homestead of Albert Masuku (36), the village
head, on their way from Chemazizi Shopping Centre. The two were drunk and are
said to have been exchanging harsh words."
“Rugowera was found dead along the footpath that passes through Masuku's
homestead by a Grade One pupil from Muzara Primary School, who rushed and
informed Masuku that someone was asleep along the path.
"Masuku went to scene and tried calling out Rugowera and when he drew closer he
discovered that he was dead. He then reported the matter to the police. The body
was taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital mortuary for post mortem.
“Acting on a tip off, the police arrested Nezvikonde."
