ENTERPRISING businessman, Lungisani Ncube, popularly known as Two Minutes has come to the aid
of villagers in Gwanda North after distributing Presidential farming inputs that could not be
delivered to beneficiaries who had failed to raise money to ensure the inputs reached their
destinations.
Matshetsheni, Stanmore, Lumene, Nyandeni and Mzimuni communities received their inputs after
the businessman, volunteered to transport the farming inputs. Villagers had failed to raise funds to
hire transport.
Presidential Inputs are mandated to be distributed by Government trucks, but logistical delays result
in the inputs not reaching the beneficiaries on time.
Local authorities in the affected areas had suggested villagers raise funds for the early distribution of
fertilisers.
A local elder, Mqondisi Ndlovu, said villagers had failed to raise money to transport inputs and the
businessman’s intervention had come in handy.
"Our councillors opted that we fundraise for the distribution, aware that the annual delay of
fertiliser distribution always cost farming operations.
We then failed to raise the money until Two Minutes volunteered his lorry to distribute the
fertiliser," said Ndlovu.
Ncube confirmed transporting inputs to beneficiaries in various parts of Gwanda North and
promised to continue to work towards betterment of the lives of people.
"I am distributing the fertiliser to the aforementioned communities after I came across their plea.
Realizing that people in this area keep poverty at bay through farming, I noted the importance and
urgency and filled all the paperwork and managed to get this fertiliser from Grain Marketing Board
in Gwanda,” he said.
