CHINHOYI—CHINHOYI Stars Football Club will host a combined Christmas party for its players as well as a fundraising event.
The Club’s board member responsible for Public Relations, Tapiwa Chitate, said they were going to host an end-of-year Christmas party to appreciate their players for being the best and were also planning a fundraising night as they will invite different organisations on 22 December 2022.
“For the first time in Chinhoyi, the team has survived relegation. No other team has stayed long in Division One. So, these are our heroes. We are going to honour them celebrating and appreciating the team for the good work they did and for working hard and making it through together as a team.
“This event is going to be held on Unity Day. As the country celebrates the day, Chinhoyi Stars football club will be celebrating the unity of our team, which led to the victory we are talking about. We will also be giving awards to the team as we will be looking for the most outstanding ones in different disciplines,” said Chitate.
He said they would use this event as a fundraiser for the club for the next season as they would invite corporates and organisation so that they partner with the club.
“It is going to be an awards ceremony as well as a fundraiser night preparing for the next football season. We are going to invite different corporate organisations so that they can partner with us as well for the best of the team since the team has proved to be hard workers.”
One of the Chinhoyi Stars FC players, Leeroy Karuru, said they were happy with the idea as it showed that they were being appreciated and it gives them reason to work hard and keep on shining as a team.
“We are very happy and excited with the idea of being appreciated. We feel honoured. We have been working hard as a team to get where we are, as we managed to stay in Division One for the first time, which has never happened.
“So we thank the club for recognising us and being able to appreciate us as they plan to give awards. I’m sure those who performed well really deserve to be appreciated. They deserve the awards and we are looking forward to this day,” said Karuru.
