Chipangano off the relegation zone.

Hwange FC, affectionately known as Chipangano secured their place in the 2023 PSL thanks to a
comfortable 3-0 win last week over Black Rhinos which made them gain three valuable more points.
An opening goal by Brighton Makopa in the second minute of play put a determined Hwange on
track as they sought to stay clear of relegation. Makopa capitalised on an error by the Black Rhinos
defence when he outpaced the goalkeeper to send the ball rolling into the net.
Chipangano's good work continued 10 minutes from the restart. Makopa was involved again,
dribbling before unleashing a rising shot that threw fans into a frenzy.
Chipangano boys are slowly moving away from the league’s danger zone. Hwange are now in eighth
position with 43 points. Standing in for the Chipangano gaffer, Nation Dube, the coal miners’
goalkeepers coach, was a happy man and said their goal is to collect points in all the remaining.
“If the boys keep up playing like this, we will surely survive the relegation” said Mlausi Mbewe, a
Chipangano fan.
“When the boys are playing at home they play very well, but we have had a challenge with the
defenders from Black Rhinos who kept our boys on toes,” said Mbewe.
Chipangano are league returnees who are back in the Premier Soccer League after being relegated in
2019 but this time, they declared that they are in the top flight to stay.
Hwange FC have had an on-and-off relationship with the Premier Soccer League. Their
performances of late in the top flight and if the buzz in their training camp is anything to go by then
there is no doubt Chipangano are not in the premiership to make up numbers. The boys have their
next match in Zvishavane against FC platinum.
