Masvingo (New Ziana) – A Masvingo court on Monday ordered a psychiatric examination of a Gokomere man who is suspected of brutally murdering his brother’s eight-year old son last week and cooking his head.

Magistrate Grace Tupiri remanded Clever Chitiga, (22), in custody pending trial, but ordered his medical examination to determine his mental health.

The accused was arrested last week on suspicion of killing the boy after he sheltered from the rains at his house in Matova village near Masvingo.

Eyewitnesses said Chitiga was allegedly caught cooking the head of the boy in his kitchen, leading to his subsequent arrest. Other remains of the boy were found nearby.

Tupiri remanded Chitiga to December 21, after medical examination.
