    Detective shot dead in Bulawayo

    Bulawayo, (New Ziana) – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched an investigation into the fatal shooting of a detective with the homicide section in Pumula South high-density suburb in Bulawayo on Thursday evening.
    Detective Constable Cassandra Hove was reportedly pursuing an armed robbery suspect when the incident occurred.

    National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the death of Detective Constable Hove, who was fatally shot on Thursday at around 9 PM.

    Com Nyathi said the shooting took place in the Harbek area of Pumula South but did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding Hove’s death, citing ongoing investigations.

    According to reports, Hove sustained gunshot wounds to the upper body,  which led to her death.

    In a statement, Commissioner Nyathi conveyed the condolences of Police Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba to the Hove family and also assured the public that comprehensive investigations are underway to determine the exact sequence of events.

    “The Zimbabwe Republic Police remains committed to combating armed robberies and other violent crimes in the country. We will not relent in our efforts to ensure the safety and security of all citizens,” he said.

    Com Nyathi urged members of the public to report any criminal activities to the nearest police station.
